Here in the UK, conservatories have well adapted into the scene of many residential locations. They offer great spaces for relaxation as well as give extra space in any home. Choosing the right type of conservatory style for your home can depend on a lot of factors. These factors can include the available space that you have, the type of home you have, and even your financial budget.

Despite those factors, there are 4 basic types of conservatory styles you should be aware of. Getting yourself acquainted with these different conservatory styles will help you identify which style fits your home the most. Here is a list of the 4 basic types of conservatories you can choose from.

1.       Edwardian Style Conservatory

The Edwardian style conservatory is also called the Gregorian style conservatory. These conservatories were ushered in by the new era after the death of Queen Victoria. They are the most popular design today and it is less ornate and concentrates more on functionality. With these types of conservatories, you can expect to have a square or rectangular base plan.

2.       Victorian Style Conservatory

Victorian conservatories feature an angled bay to the front of the elevation. There are usually three or five sections to the front of the bay. Victorian conservatories can enhance the look of homes with its elegant appearance and style. This type of conservatory has multi-faceted, distinctive, fretted ridge crestings as well as elaborate finials.

3.       P-shaped Conservatory

P-shaped conservatories are basically a combination of two conservatories, namely the lean-to and Victorian conservatories. Combining these two distinctly forms the letter “P” shape, thus its name. With this type of conservatory, you can maximise the space around your home. You also have the option of dividing the space into two sections so you can have two rooms in one conservatory.

4.       Lean-to Conservatory

Considered as an inexpensive to way to add space to your home, lean-to conservatories are ideal for small houses with height restrictions.  This kind of conservatory features a roof that slopes upwards from the front of the conservatory, until the wall of the house. If you want simple lines and light shapes, you can go for a lean-to conservatory.

Do not be limited by these basic conservatory styles. Combining two of these styles will give you more options to choose from. Don’t hesitate to contact us for more information and how you can have the perfect conservatory for your home.
